Nestled in the wooded valley running along the Lynher River, Notter Bridge Holiday Park lies in a sheltered position amidst the natural untamed woodland, diverse blossoming gardens and coniferous canopies, with it’s own small fishing lake and natural wildlife trails, all making up this idyllic and tranquil holiday setting, forgiving the occasional honks from Mayo, our resident Grey Goose.
The park is perfectly situated just off the A38, joining the Devon expressway to Cornwall meaning you have the best of two Counties to discover right on your doorstep. In just 17 minutes you can find yourself on the sandy shore or Downderry, discovering the impressive grounds of Anthony Estate, or exploring the numerous coves negotiating the golden stretches of Whitsand Bay.
The winding River Lynher is home to a large variety of local wildlife from white throated dippers, to river otters, vibrant kingfishers, avocets and wrens to little moorhens that run along it’s banks. The local rod & line fisherman occasionally litter it’s banks with hopes of hooking the migrating sea trout or the odd Atlantic salmon.
If getting away from it all was your intention, this quiet riverside location offers an idyllic base, lacking in both amusements and entertainment venues, there is nothing to detract from taking in the surroundings whilst dining alfresco from your balcony, or taking in the starry night skies from the luxury of your own bubbling hot tub.
If this is your first time visiting the area of your 8th time, there are always exciting new discoveries to be made, explore the wild and unspoilt Bodmin Moorland, the tropical South coast stretching from Rame head to Looe Island or discover the old mining history that litters the Cornish Coastline and riverways around Morwellham Quay.. we’ve listed a few of our personal favourite locations below;
On park: Take your dog on a woodland discovery with acres of untouched forest to explore in the park itself, or head across the road along the river for superb walking trails. Just opposite lies the Notter Bridge Inn, offering a great atmosphere, friendly dining experience inside or out, with delightful hosts Clare and John cooking up a storm of fresh, wholesome food (just remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment.)
