ABOUT HERON POD

Heron Pod is a perfect couple’s getaway Glamping Pod, comprising a cosy self-contained accommodation for up to two people. Or a great economic option for those visiting family in Devon and Cornwall. 

For those wanting to switch off and embrace the stunning surroundings and natural environment, or those new to camping that want to get out into the great outdoors, with a few home comforts, our Heron Glamping Pod could be just what you’re looking for. There is a front decking area, designed for relaxing days and evenings, with outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. The Notter Bridge Inn is also situated at the entrance to the park, perfect for experiencing the areas local cuisine.

Within the grounds is our Woodland Nature Walkway, offering a secluded walk around the boundaries of Notter Bridge Holiday Park. Along the walk is our small fishing and nature pond, with a selection of local fish and ecological conservation efforts, supporting the regions local flora and fauna. At the end of the Park is the slipway onto the River Lynher, perfect for canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards.

Our modern and contemporary pods, provide a comfortable and economic alternative to either being under canvas or in one of our lodges. The Pod has a murphy style bed that also doubles as a sofa. There is also a seating area and TV, whilst the kitchenette has a 2-ring hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. The pod also has an ensuite shower with WC. A pack of linen for the bed is provided upon arrival, along with bath towels.

You are welcome to bring your own BBQ, as well as any other camping equipment needed to ensure you have a wonderful break. There is a parking space next to the pod. With a true focus on nature, Heron pod has been named after the visiting Heron birds who are long legged graceful fishers often found quietly hunting along the river banks or perched in the trees in the Woodlands.

Public Announcement for Holiday Guests: A38 Road Works Update

Please be advised that road works are being carried out on the nearby A38 until approximately 9th December 2024. This work, contracted through Highways, may result in occasional noise disruptions during your stay. The contractors are permitted to work from 07:00 until 18:00, Monday to Friday.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as these necessary improvements are completed. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team.

Just inside the main entrance to Notter Bridge Holiday Park – you will find a small shop for essentials hosted within the main reception available during opening hours.
 
Follow the road past reception and through the tunnel to the main accommodation.
 
You will find an onsite laundry room submitted to regular cleaning routines throughout the week, a boat launch slipway, a small course fishing lake, a BBQ area, as well as an enclosed dog walking area and established woodland and nature trails with benches to rest. Next to the communal lawn you will find a games box kitted with giant chequers, jenga and chess there for all to enjoy. 
Wifi is included. 
 
Just across the road from the main reception you will find Notter Bridge Inn is available for hearty meals and local ales, bookings are recommended. Close to the pub you will also find decent dog walking trails along the river, please feel free to ask your park hosts for any local recommendations during your stay. 
 
 

Nestled in the wooded valley running along the Lynher River, Notter Bridge Holiday Park lies in a sheltered position amidst the natural untamed woodland, diverse blossoming gardens and coniferous canopies, with it’s own small fishing lake and natural wildlife trails, all making up this idyllic and tranquil holiday setting, forgiving the occasional honks from Mayo, our resident Grey Goose.

The park is perfectly situated just off the A38, joining the Devon expressway to Cornwall meaning you have the best of two Counties to discover right on your doorstep. In just 17 minutes you can find yourself on the sandy shore or Downderry, discovering the impressive grounds of Anthony Estate, or exploring the numerous coves negotiating the golden stretches of Whitsand Bay.

The winding River Lynher is home to a large variety of local wildlife from white throated dippers, to river otters, vibrant kingfishers, avocets and wrens to little moorhens that run along it’s banks. The local rod & line fisherman occasionally litter it’s banks with hopes of hooking the migrating sea trout or the odd Atlantic salmon.

If getting away from it all was your intention, this quiet riverside location offers an idyllic base, lacking in both amusements and entertainment venues, there is nothing to detract from taking in the surroundings whilst dining alfresco from your balcony, or taking in the starry night skies from the luxury of your own bubbling hot tub.

If this is your first time visiting the area of your 8th time, there are always exciting new discoveries to be made, explore the wild and unspoilt Bodmin Moorland, the tropical South coast stretching from Rame head to Looe Island or discover the old mining history that litters the Cornish Coastline and riverways around Morwellham Quay.. we’ve listed a few of our personal favourite locations below;

  • Lanhydrock National Trust house – Elegant 19th century stately home and gardens, popular for it’s cycle trails.
  • Calstock – Quaint river-side village – staggered streets dwarfed by the railway viaduct, picnic areas and local Inns.
  • Tavistock – Local town, with a local deli, boutique shops and independent market stalls.
  • Whitsand bay, Cawsand & Kingsand – A beautiful golden stretch of coves along the South coast.
  • Morwellham Quay – Steeped in history, marked as a World Heritage site due to being home to one the most profitable mines in the World at one time.
  • Looe beach – Popular with tourists for it’s town beach, fish and chips, variety of ice-cream & pasty shops and community feel.
  • Polperro fishing village – Quaint working fishing harbour, loved and adored for it’s local charm and cobbled streets.
  • Cotehele house and Gardens.
  • Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park.
  • Golitha falls nature reserve, featuring a cascading waterfall in an ancient wooded valley.

On park: Take your dog on a woodland discovery with acres of untouched forest to explore in the park itself, or head across the road along the river for superb walking trails. Just opposite lies the Notter Bridge Inn, offering a great atmosphere, friendly dining experience inside or out, with delightful hosts Clare and John cooking up a storm of fresh, wholesome food (just remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment.)
