Kemacott is our Stargazer Geodome with sea views.
For those wanting to switch off and embrace the stunning, spectacular, surroundings and natural environment. Or those new to camping that want to get out into the great outdoors, with a few home comforts, our Kemacott Stargazer Geodome could be just what you’re looking for. There is a decking area designed for relaxing days and evenings, boasting beautiful views of the captivating countryside and stunning sea views. There is also a grass area with a picnic bench for al fresco dining.
Kemacott has skylight window, so you can lie in bed and take in the constellations. Exmoor is recognised as the first dark sky reserve in Europe. The skies at night are simply breath-taking.
Once inside, Kemacott has a double bed, a storage chest, a small dining table with 2 chairs, a heater, a fridge, and a kettle. There is electric power provided also.
Beds will be made upon arrival. Please note that we do not provide towels. The Retreats modern facilities block is only a short walk away providing men’s, women’s and private WC, shower and changing facilities, washing up area, EasyBe dishwasher and a communal freezer.
You are welcome to bring your own BBQ (bricks are provided to raise these off the ground), as well as any other camping equipment needed to ensure you have a wonderful break.
Fire pits and open fires are forbidden on our park.
There is a parking space next to the tent.
Kemacott’s name derives from a rural area close to the Retreat, which is also home to the Lynton & Barnstable Railway Company, a lovingly restored railway that runs through the lush Exmoor countryside.
Our friendly team will be happy to help in any way they can, whether this is offering advice on the many wonderful walks in the area, recommending the best places to eat or visit for a day out.
WIFI is available during your stay with us. It can however be limited at times, owing to our location and the infrastructure within the Exmoor National Park, and at busier periods.

The town of Lynmouth went from a tiny fishing village to a thriving Victorian tourist resort dubbed ‘Little Switzerland due to its rolling hills, sheer cliffs and cascading rivers. Whilst the World around may be ever changing, both Lynton & Lynmouth retain their vintage charm, frozen in the reminiscence of an earlier time, the towns are separated by the highest water powered funicular railway in the World and adjoin the infamous craggy cliffs of The Valley of Rocks.

The Park Reception hosts a small convenience shop stocking camping essentials, which include toiletries, gas canisters and camping equipment. We also stock a variety of local produce, soft drinks, snacks, ice creams, preserves, tea and coffee. We like to support local business and have for our customers to purchase Spirits that are distilled on Exmoor, locally produced cider and ales brewed in a short distance away in Chivenor. We bake pastries, fresh bread and toasted sandwiches to order.
The Retreat offers modern shower & toilet block facilities, these provide free hot showers, touch vanity mirrors and smart energy-saving hairdryers. There is a family bathroom and a shower room, we also have a designated disabled bathroom. The washing up area is indoors, within this area there is a steam dishwasher free for guest use and a freezer for your ice blocks. We also have a launderette.
