Lynton Cinema

Family Fun

An intimate modern picture palace in Lynton, seating 68 people in comfortable seats with plenty of leg room, and Dolby SR sound.

Built in 1910 and designed as a Methodist Chapel by architects Latrose & Weston, it is a Grade II* Listed building. It is located on Lee Road, next to the Town Hall in Lynton.

The chapel was closed in 1999 and it was purchased by the local District Council for use as an arts centre. An area at the rear, known as the church hall was chosen to be converted into a cinema.

What a delight. Passionate, knowledgeable volunteers are the backbone of this teeny jewel. Teeny prices too.....don't know how they do it as the films shown are newly released, and the building is in tiptop condition. Gives any "corporate" more than a run for it's money. Keep going Lynton Cinema....others can learn a lot from you. And Thankyou. (Also for the chat as we left about local railways, Bill)

Fantastic little cinema with the original ticket machine. We even had the whole theatre to ourselves.

A perfect cinema: small, friendly, comfortable seats and shows a decent selection of blockbusters and independent films. I was staying in Lynton for one night and went to see 'The ballad of Wallis Island.' Only £5 a ticket!

I got show to my seat by the usherette, something that hasn't happened since about 1985.

A wonderful place, I wish I lived closer.

Super cinema, not only are the prices VERY reasonable but you feel genuinely welcomed and can tell the owners take great pride in what they do (eg. checking everyone is happy for the film to start!). The seats are comfortable and the picture/sound is better than many of the big national cinemas. The snacks are sold at supermarket prices too. £19 for a family of four plus three bags of sweets and two drinks! A welcome throwback to a time when it wasn't all about profit, places like this need to be kept afloat at all costs!

What a fantastic cinema!!!! Full of character. Deceptively comfortable seats. Friendly staff. Cosy. Reasonable. We will definitely be going again. Best cinema EVER!

Absolutely lovely and charming small cinema.

£5 a ticket and snacks and drinks are amazingly priced (all under £1.50).

Very friendly welcome, professional screening, perfect quirky evening! Thank you!
