Wake up to sea views, explore Exmoor, and enjoy camping the way it should be.

5 Reasons Lynmouth Holiday Retreat Is the Ultimate Campsite…

wave graphic

Perched above the sea and moors on the edge of Exmoor National Park, Lynmouth Holiday Retreat has quietly become one of North Devon’s most-loved campsites; and it’s easy to see why. From the location to the night skies, here are five reasons guests keep coming back.

1. An Unbeatable North Devon Location

Lynmouth sits right on the edge of Exmoor, with the dramatic Valley of Rocks and the wooded gorge of Watersmeet both within easy reach. Add in miles of coastal and moorland walks, plus the quaint fishing villages of Lynmouth and Lynton with their harbourside pubs, and you’ve got a base that makes exploring effortless.

2. Modern Facilities and a Genuinely Friendly Team

Guests consistently call out how modern and spotless the facilities are; from the on-site food truck to family and accessible bathrooms, an eco dishwasher, and EV car charging points. Whatever comes up during a stay, the team are always close by and happy to help…
“The facilities are fantastic, very clean and well maintained… they have an excellent food van on site, serving coffee, cocktails, takeaways and desserts.”

3. Beautiful Bay and Valley Views From Every Plot

The park sits atop breathtaking Lyn Bay, and every plot offers either stunning sea views out over the bay or peaceful views across the valley; there isn’t really a bad spot to pitch up or park your lodge.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a campsite take such GOOD care of the people staying on its site! The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful.

4. A Quiet Spot Surrounded by Nature

Tucked out on a limb, Lynmouth isn’t somewhere people simply pass through — which makes it noticeably quieter than other North Devon campsites. There are no loud entertainment venues or pubs next door, and a noise curfew means everyone gets a peaceful night’s sleep.

“The layout of the site is brilliant and no rowdy or noisy neighbours… felt very safe in the evenings.”— Google review, Lynmouth Holiday Retreat

5. Some of the Darkest Skies in the South West

With very little light pollution out on the edge of Exmoor, Lynmouth is one of the best spots in the region to see a truly dark night sky — including the Milky Way on a clear night. It’s part of why we named one of our glamping stays the Stargazer Geodome.

“The park is dark at night… when it was clear you could see the Milky Way, as the skies are so dark — a rare novelty for city dwellers like us.”— Lynmouth Holiday Retreat, Google review

October half term break, staying in a 2-bedroom static caravan. The park is lovely and quiet, not many people were there in the same week as us. We arrived late on a Friday but the late check-in email made arrival easy and our van was ready and waiting for us. The caravan was clean and had a nice open plan lounge and kitchen area. There was a glimpse of a sea view from our lounge and kitchen, down towards Lynmouth. The park was very dog friendly - the secure dog walking field was great, and there are walks out from the park towards Lynmouth and Watersmeet. The park is dark at night so if you’ve got a dog bring a headtorch, but when it was clear at night you could see the Milky Way, as the skies are so dark (a rare novelty for city dwellers like us). The location was very picturesque and just off the A39, so it was easy to get out exploring the coast and Exmoor. The only slight challenge with the caravan was cooking - in our experience caravan gas ovens never cook food very quickly, and there was only one shelf to cook on - fine if cooking on the hob, but if we visited again i think we’d squeeze our air fryer into the car! But overall a lovely holiday and we would recommend.

We stayed here during the summer as part of our first motor home road trip around the south west.

This was by far our favorite campsite.

The location was lovely; with stunning views and really great walking trails.

Nice field for dogs to be walked.

We loved our pitch, really good hedges on the sides and back for privacy and great water and electrical hook-ups; very accessible.

The facilities are fantastic, very clean and well maintained. Also felt very safe in the evenings.

Shower and toilet facilities were spotless and cleaned multiple times.

They have an excellent food van on site, serving coffee, cocktails, takeaways and deserts.

The quality was fantastic and a really nice addition that a lot of sites we visited were missing.

The layout of the site is brilliant and no rowdy or or noisy neighbors.

Everything from arriving to departing was excellent and the team were very friendly and helpful.

Will be staying here again as it is an absolute gem.

Just spent fab few days at this great site with our caravan. The facilities were excellent very clean and tidy. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bakery (pre ordered) is a nice touch, warm croissants for breakfast 😋. Look forward to our next visit.

We stayed in one of the sea-view glamping pods. Both the pod itself and the communal facilities were absolutely spotless and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The view was amazing, and even when it was rainy and windy outside we were able to stay nice and dry and cosy in the pod. Wouldn't hesitate to come back for another stay!

Absolutely beautiful place which I couldn’t fault. If you need peace & quiet then this is the place for you. Upon arrival we were greeted with very helpful staff that gave us all the information we needed for our stay. Our dog absolutely loved it here & so did we. Perfect time of year as it is early October. Would definitely come back again.

we stayed here for three nights in the middle of june, and it was wonderful! for a budget-friendly campsite, we certainly weren't expecting the level of customer service, quality of facilities, and view that we got. very happy, and will definitely be back! pitches are tiered so wherever you are, there's a wonderful view. good-sized pitches with designated gravel area for your car. it was quiet but not completely dead, and the toilets and showers were kept very clean. the ice freezer was never full and always space. great access to local trails, and only a few minutes' drive from popular spots. we had a wonderful stay.
