At Coast & Country Parks, we have a handful of beautiful holiday units available at short notice across our parks in North Devon and Cornwall. From riverside lodges at Notter Bridge to clifftop caravans above Lynmouth, here’s how to make the most of a spontaneous South West escape.

Day 1 — Arrive & Unwind
Afternoon: Settle in:
Arrive at your lodge, caravan or glamping pod and take the first hour just to breathe. Make a cuppa. Walk the park. Let the transition from motorway to nature actually happen.
Evening: Local pub supper:
Don’t cook on night one. Head to a nearby pub for something hearty; our parks are all within easy reach of good local food. Try the Halfway House near Notter Bridge, the Culm Valley Inn near Lynmouth, or head into Calstock or Gunnislake if you’re at Tamar View.
Day 2 — Get Outside
Morning: A loop walk from the park;
All three parks have walking straight from the door or a short drive away. Keep it simple:
- Notter Bridge → Follow the River Lynher south through the woodland valley. Flat, dog-friendly, about 4 miles return.
- Tamar View → Drop down into the Tamar Valley and pick up the valley trail. The views across to Morwellham Quay are worth the climb back up.
- Lynmouth → Walk the Valley of Rocks circular from Lynton — open moorland, dramatic coastal cliffs, feral goats. Around 4 miles, manageable for most.
Afternoon: Hit the coast;
You’re never far from a beach in the South West.
- From Notter Bridge / Tamar View → Looe, Portwrinkle or Whitsand Bay are all within 30 minutes.
- From Lynmouth → Croyde, Saunton Sands or the sheltered cove at Woody Bay.
Grab fish and chips on the way back. No further planning required.
Evening: Slow down: Cook in, open a bottle, watch the light fade over the valley or the sea. This is what you came for (& enjoy the hot tub!).
Day 3 — One Last Thing, Then Home
Morning: One more outdoor moment:
Before you pack the car, get outside one last time.
- A short riverside walk or a stroll around the park…
- A quick drive to a viewpoint, Rame Head, Hartland Point or Countisbury Hill are all spectacular and rarely crowded in the morning whilst you grab a coffee
- If you didn’t manage the beach, go now! Get some well-earned relaxing time before venturing home.
