Accessibility Information

Whilst the village itself is accessible, walkers may find the walk terrain a little challenging in parts.

Calstock in Cornwall offers a charming blend of natural beauty and rich history, making it a delightful destination for nature lovers and heritage enthusiasts alike. Nestled along the banks of the River Tamar, Calstock is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, celebrated for its picturesque landscapes and tranquil river scenes.

Explore the peaceful riverside walks where you can spot kingfishers darting over the water, herons standing gracefully by the shore, and occasionally otters playing among the reeds. The surrounding woodlands and meadows provide a haven for butterflies, dragonflies, and a diverse array of native plants, creating a vibrant ecosystem to discover.

Calstock itself is a beautiful village with narrow cobbled streets, historic buildings, and a welcoming community. Visitors can enjoy exploring the Calstock Viaduct, an iconic railway bridge that towers above the river, as well as the local heritage museum that tells the story of the area’s mining past. For families and outdoor enthusiasts, Calstock offers a wonderful opportunity to combine nature watching with cultural exploration in the heart of Cornwall’s stunning countryside.

Robin Hanbury-Tenison OBE at the end of the first leg rowing up and down the Tamar. Seen with support boats from Plymouth University @plymuni and had been accompanied by a boat from the World's Toughest Row - Atlantic race.

Nice area if Calstock right by the water. Pub great along with ice cream shop. Parking can be a nightmare as public parking often filled by residents & camper vans.
