Grunta Beach, Mortehoe

Dog-friendly

The sandy little cove of Grunta is situated below the cliffs in front of the village of Morthoe. A stone’s throw from Woolacombe.

Opening Times

Visit at Low tide as Grunta isn’t accessible when the tide is in.
This is another great little beach along from Woolacombe’s busier stretch. As it’s only accessed at low tide, the receding water leaves lots of little rock pools which little ones will adore investigating – so make sure you pack a net and bucket and they’ll be happy for hours.

Beautiful beach. I came across this beach on a lovely coastal walk and was simply amazed by the geology of the beach, fantastic!

A hidden gem! Rock pools. Shells, pebbles and great views of the tide breaking on the rocks.

Roadside parking (if you can get it) available on the road that runs parallel to it.

Great for finding driftwood, pebbles and taking scenic photographs. Wonder recommend if you struggle walking or have problems with your ankles/legs as the rocks are quite difficult to walk on and the stair way down to the beach isn't particularly sturdy.

Loved it. I should have worn my walking boots so I could have taken the pathway further. The scenery is breathtaking. . . Little bonus on the way back is a little coffee and cold drink horse box with super friendly guys serving a well earned drink / snack.
