Lovely trip on a hot sunny late September day. We took a special trip, rolls/cheese/cider going to Minehead and scone, jam and cream tea on the way back. Staff very friendly and efficient. Couple of hours to look around town before return to Bishop's Lydeard. Diesel going steam train on return.

What a gem.We only had a short time so took a trip to Stogumber from Bishops Lydeard. Lovely volunteers giving a warm welcome.

We were there for a 2940's weekend event including a Saturday evening dance and a Sunday lunch train. This is a wonderful experience and just two days does not give you enough time to see it all but careful planning will get you to see a good amount.(You can of course use your car to get to the individual stations that makes it a lot easier). This for us though was all about the trains and it was perfect. We must not forget the staff too who throughout the whole of our time there were excellent. Friendly, informative and most helpful.

A highly recommend visit, special event or otherwise!

Aug 2025.

Went from Watchet to Minehead, great scenery, made better by a really sunny day. Buffet car. All Stations beautifully kept and loads of beautiful summer plants in pots. Friendly staff. Clean all areas. Loved it.

The Flying Scotsman from Bishop's Lydeard to Minehead and return. Had to be booked well in advance as there were coaches from all over the country. As a Scotsman myself and being of a certain age I have a definite fondness for the engine but zi hadn't realized it had this many devoted followers. The ride was well organized with all of us funneled into a big tent and boarded by carriage numbers. A very pleasurable couple of hours and very memorable.

Easy to get to from the M5. Good sized car park and volunteers who work there are friendly and helpful. Great station and they've preserved it very well. Definitely worth visiting and taking the train the Minehead and back. £34 return for adults when I visited.
