Two new boys have moved into Lynmouth Holiday Retreat, and they’ve already stolen every guest’s heart and attention. They’re Highland cows, both two years old, and they have fringes you could genuinely lose a hand in. What they don’t have yet? Names.

So we need your help. We’re running a nationwide competition to give these two the names they deserve, and the winner gets a prize worth shouting about.

The Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is launching a nationwide naming competition, inviting the public to choose the perfect fit for these bonnie lads… and yes, we know what you’re thinking but – “Cowy McCowface” has already been put out to pasture!

Highland cattle are renowned for their distinctive long hair, making them perfectly at home in the rugged, dramatic landscape of Exmoor. Even though the boys have only just arrived, they are already proving to be playful, cheeky characters and excellent escape artists! Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is delighted to offer families and nature lovers across the UK a unique chance to get involved in the naming process.

To participate, simply visit Lynmouth Holiday Retreat’s social media post highlighting the competition, suggest your two favourite male Highland cow names, and vote by liking your preferred entries. The competition is open nationwide, encouraging everyone to join in the fun.

How do we pick a winner?

The most-liked names will be put forward to our judging panel of Lynmouth Holiday Retreat’s Holiday park wardens, who will make the final decision.

When will the winner be announced?

Winner will be announced on Lynmouth Retreat’s stories at midday on Thursday 7th May 2026.

One winner will be selected to receive a three-night stay at Lynmouth Holiday Retreat. Three night stay in our Stargazing Geo Domes which accommodates two guests and up to two dogs. This prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or an alternative booking. Only one winner will be chosen nationwide, and the judges’ decision is final. Participants must be 18 years or older to enter. Travel costs and additional expenses are not included in the prize package. By entering, participants agree to allow Lynmouth Holiday Retreat to announce their name on social media platforms and use the winning names for the Highland cows. Stay dates are subject to availability and must be booked within the 2026 season.
