Located in the hamlet of St. Ann’s Chapel The Cottage has an enviable position on the side of a hill over looking Tamar Valley and the River Tamar in the distance.

Tamar Cottage is pet friendly, sleeping up to 6 guests, featuring two double bedrooms and a bunk room.

Tamar Cottage forms a quaint and contemporary semi-detached accommodation, with your own private hot tub and large gated garden. The Cottage, hot tub and gardens all enjoy the stunning, south facing unobstructed panoramic view of the rolling hills of the Tamar Valley, through to Plymouth Sound. Tamar Cottage is self-contained and self-catered, perfect for romantic escapes, family holidays or groups of friends.

Inside, Tamar Cottage has an open-plan lounge and dining room, with a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, Nescafe Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine, and toaster. There are also all the usual cooking pots and pans, as well as kitchen utensils. There is an upstairs family bathroom and a family shower room with washing machine downstairs. The beds will be made upon arrival, with towels provided. We recommend bringing a separate towel per guest for the hot tub.

Tamar Cottage’s private garden is the perfect place to enjoy a summers evening, or relax after a long day exploring, in your private hot tub.

Tamar Cottage takes its name from the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with plenty of walking, biking, and canoeing trails. Something for everyone!

Facilities

With all accommodation boasting complete self-contained facilities including washing machines and dishwashers, the Park itself has a main reception at the entrance with security barrier. Just across the road from the park are superb dog walking trails, with dog bins provided swell as on site. Wifi included.

Park Setting

Concealed high above the River Tamar with its wooded valleys and unspoilt estuary, Tamar View Holiday Park perches itself right at the heart of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Tamar Valley, already a World Heritage site due to it’s steep Mining Industrial past, was awarded its (AONB) status in 1996 because of it’s richness in beauty and history, possessing some of the finest examples of British Countryside, and because of its importance as a haven for wildlife such as Avocets, little Egrets, Kingfishers and River Otters.

Dubbed the ‘Undiscovered Valley,’ due to its unimposing position in this otherwise crowded holiday destination, you would not quite believe this remarkable valley is situated just half an hour from the golden sands of Cornwall’s south coast beaches. Discover the less swamped shores of Whitsand bay, Tregantle, Downderry, Seaton and dare to explore your own hidden coves along this under-rated and dazzling stretch of Cornish coastline.

If the surrounding area was anything to go by, the Park itself will certainly not disappoint, positioned in a tranquil and peaceful setting high up amongst domestic farmland, wild meadow borders and overlooking 12+ mile views across the ever-changing and dramatic lowlands of the valley. If getting away from it all was your intention, this quiet countryside location offers an idyllic base, lacking in both amusements and entertainment venues, there is nothing to detract from taking in the surroundings whilst dining alfresco from your balcony, or taking in the clear night skies from the luxury of your own bubbling hot tub.

If this is your first time visiting the area of your 8th time, there are always exciting new discoveries to be made, explore the wild and unspoilt Dartmoor landscape nearby, the vast river valleys making up the Tamar Valley or the tropical South coast stretching from Rame head to Looe Island.. we’ve listed a few of our personal favourite locations below;

Calstock – Quaint river-side village – staggered streets dwarfed by the railway viaduct, picnic areas and local Inns.
Tavistock – Local town, with a local deli, boutique shops and independent market stalls.
Morwellham Quay – Steeped in history, marked as a World Heritage site due to being home to one the most profitable mines in the World at one time.
Looe beach – Popular with tourists for it’s town beach, fish and chips, variety of ice-cream & pasty shops and community feel.
Polperro fishing village – Quaint working fishing harbour, loved and adored for it’s local charm and cobbled streets.
Cardinham woods, Bodmin.
Cotehele house and Gardens.
Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park.
Kit Hill Country Park.

Nearby – the ‘Rifle Volunteer’ pub offers a great atmosphere, friendly dining experience inside or out, with delightful hosts and scrumptious food (just remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment.) Up the road at the highest point of the Tamar Valley lies Kit hill where on a clear day, it reveals some of the biggest views in the South West, and right at it’s foothill sits Louis Tea Rooms a personal favourite amongst our guests, from their award winning breakfasts and generous lunches to their traditional farm shop. Get all of your holiday necessities whilst shopping local, with the freshest seasonal fruit & vegetables, delicious home bakes cakes, scones and breads to fresh cows milk & free range eggs straight off the farm.
Explore the local area by train on the scenic Tamar Valley Line from Gunnislake, by boat on the Tamar Passenger Ferry or take a pleasure cruise from Plymouth.
